The Lake Area Chorale was established in 1962 when Geraldine Haldiman invited community members in Eldon, Mo. to sing with the High School Choral Department in a performance of Handel’s “Messiah”.

The Greater Lake Area Arts Council sponsored the development of the Greater Lake Area Chorale in 1994 with Robert Sinclair as the first director. The chorale presented a spring and fall concert that season and has continued to do so through out the years. There have been several directors since Mr. Sinclair. Michael Lindeman took up the reins in 2002. During that time the group has grown extensively in musicality and in membership. Currently there are over 70 members. The chorale presented six concerts in April and early May, singing in area churches for large, appreciative audiences.

Mr. Lindeman recently retired as Associate Professor of Music at Central Methodist University after 13 years of teaching. While residing in the Kansas City area he sang extensively with the Kansas City Lyric Opera Company, the Kansas City Chamber Choir. He has sung for the New Reformed Temple of Kansas City for over twenty years. He holds Bachelors of Music Education and Master of Music in Performance from Emporia State University and is a graduate of the Goethe Institute. Mr. Lindeman has conducted church, school and community choruses and orchestra in Kansas and Missouri for over 30 years.  He is currently the choir director for Harper Chapel United Methodist church in Osage Beach. He gives private lessons in voice piano and guitar. He and his wife Helen, also a retired educator, reside in Four Seasons.
